
Oto Nováček is an urban planner and urban designer specializing in innovative approaches to urban and transport planning, climate resilience, and digital tools for city development. In his practice, he connects urban planning and design with data analytics, GIS technologies, and strategic planning.
He has more than 8 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, having worked in Slovakia as well as abroad. He is currently employed at the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava and is active within the urbanist platform INAAK. In the past, he collaborated with the World Bank, the United Nations, and architectural studios in Germany and Slovakia. He is a co-author of public space manuals for several Slovak cities and contributed to documents such as Bratislava 2030, MUŠ Mlynské Nivy, and the urban concept Nitra ripening.
Academically, he operates at the intersection of research and practice. He completed his doctoral studies (PhD.) at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, during which he was also active at the CityScienceLab at HafenCity Universität in Hamburg and the MIT Media Lab in Boston. His research focused on integrating data models into urban planning and design.
