Public Space Design Manual Prešov
The Public Space Design Manual Prešov represents a basic tool for implementing and improving the quality of public spaces. It is a conceptual document that defines the fundamental criteria, principles, rules, and recommendations applied in the creation of public spaces. The manual addresses all components and elements of public spaces – from furniture, trees, and greenery, to traffic elements, technical infrastructure, and public art.
The manual offers the reader theoretical foundations supported by a strong bibliographic base, graphically depicted recommendations, and illustrative examples of potential solutions from both home and abroad, ranging from the overall concept to details. An important role of the manual, besides defining the basic criteria, principles, rules, and recommendations, is its educational function. A part of this was the “Feeling Maps” project, which aimed to map how the city’s residents perceive public spaces, as well as participatory meetings with the public, which sought to gradually reveal the process of creating the document and discuss points of interest from the public’s perspective.
