Curb and corner extensions
Curb and corner extensions, implemented in Bratislava, is part of the introduction of the Panenská parking zone. Its goal is to improve pedestrian safety and calm traffic in areas with reduced traffic intensity. This tool is not intended to serve only as a one-off intervention in a specific location, but as a universal approach to enhancing safety and supporting walking when introducing parking zones in the city.
The first interventions were tested at a 1:1 scale within the technical services of the City of Bratislava, where details of the solutions were verified and fine-tuned. They were subsequently implemented in the Panenská zone in the form of tactical urbanism measures, which allow flexible responses to the needs of the space and its users. The project thus represents an important step towards a safer and higher-quality public space.
