Revitalization of the streetscape Mudroňova

The reconstruction of the public space near Mudroňova Primary School was carried out in several stages, starting with tactical urbanism, which was later transformed into a construction solution. The main issue at the Mudroňova intersection was the chaotic and unclear traffic situation on this transit street with heavy traffic. The area around the school also suffered from a lack of parking spaces for parents driving their children to school. The temporary solution showed the need for further improvements in servicing parents and enhancing movement around the school.

Based on meetings with parents, teachers, and residents, we prepared several variants, which, in addition to improving safety, also enhanced the possibilities for stopping, dropping off, and picking up children. The best solution was then translated into the final design. A safer raised crossing was created in front of the school, along with several other safe crossings in the vicinity and new parking spaces. As part of the reconstruction, we introduced a new traffic-calming element in the intersection – a continuous sidewalk. The area for dropping off children was also sized to accommodate a bus. The new pedestrian and parking zones improved the visibility of the intersection, while the addition of greenery and high-quality Bratislava paving enhanced the appearance of the space.
