The Family Center Neu Wulmstorf

The Family Center in the heart of Neu Wulmstorf serves as a meeting place and space for social activities for all generations. The building is located between the town hall, the market square, and the high school, and is connected to a nearby lake. It opens towards the lake through a large entrance vestibule, creating a seamless transition between the recreational area and the town. The Family Center offers a variety of services and contributes to the social life of the community, combining modern design and sustainability.

The building contains four main functional areas that integrate services for families and residents of the town. On the ground floor, there is a kindergarten, a multifunctional room for physical activities, and additional spaces. On the upper floor, you’ll find a café, a registry office, and family service offices. The building features an open atrium surrounded by functional spaces. The shedded roof ensures natural lighting without glare, and the façade made of Cover bricks is a modern interpretation of traditional brick architecture. These bricks are recyclable, and the building is constructed with a wooden frame that has thermal insulation properties, improving its energy efficiency.
