Územnoplánovacia štúdia zóny Košice – Hornád
The proposal presents a vision for a vibrant and sustainable center of Košice, where urban life, nature, and community come together. Across an area of 124 hectares, a new urban axis is formed — a lively boulevard filled with greenery, active ground-floor spaces, and room for people, not cars.
The Eurovelo cycling route, pedestrian zones, and green streets form the backbone of modern and ecological mobility. Housing in semi-enclosed blocks with permeable, green courtyards offers a high-quality urban environment and fosters neighborhood connections. Sports and recreation are naturally integrated into the area — a cable car connects the Dargovských hrdinov housing estate with the center, opening access to the park and the Hornád River for thousands of residents.
The revitalized Hornád becomes the green-blue heart of the district — a floodplain park, recreational riverbanks, and natural habitats enhance the city’s resilience and bring a new kind of urban experience. The proposal is built on the courage to challenge convention — creating a city of the future where people can live, create, relax, and connect.
