The Slovak Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 Dubai

The Slovak Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai embodies the theme of mobility through a unique architectural concept called the “Cloud of Thoughts.” This visually striking and contemplative space symbolizes movement, creativity, and the continuous flow of ideas, presenting Slovakia as a modern, progressive, and inspiring country – Good Idea Slovakia. The pavilion is designed as a lightweight modular structure that combines the symbolism of Slovak nature, culture, and innovation. Its main exterior element – the Slovak Courtyard – invites visitors on a quiet walk among “tree trunks” that disappear into a cloud. This space offers an interactive experience, a play of light, reflections, and shapes that evoke the beauty and diversity of the Slovak landscape.

Inside the pavilion, visitors discover layers of the Slovak spirit – from technological innovations, through digital storytelling, to artistic and industrial outputs “Made in Slovakia.” The foyer, featuring an information desk, children’s corner, and shop, serves as a transition between the outer world of imagination and the inner space of pragmatic solutions. The pavilion is fully dismantlable and designed with ecological sustainability in mind – it uses recyclable materials, easily accessible components, and energy-efficient technologies. After the exhibition ends, the entire structure will be dismantled and can be reused in another location. Thus, the Slovak Pavilion offers not only an architectural and visual experience but also a deeper insight into who we are as a country – culturally rooted, open to the world, and ready to move forward.
